We welcome all Collegiate Shag keen dancers -- New to Shag (Sat only) or Fully Seasoned (Sat & Sun) -- to join us for a shaggin' good time.
Two days of workshops, three classes each day.
Peter Flahiff (USA), is an acclaimed dancer and instructor. Peter travels the world teaching Lindy Hop, Shag, Balboa and Tap and he is very popular in the social dance floor. He has visited us in 2014 and he is coming back! This time his focus in Melbourne will be entirely Shaggadelic!
What is Collegiate Shag?
Collegiate Shag is a partner dance that originated in the Swing era. It was very popular during the 1930s and 1940s. Though the term "shag" was not used at the time. This style belongs to the Swing dance family and it is danced with faster more up-beat Swing music.
Saturday will be more focused to those dancers just starting with Collegiate Shag or for those that are interested in polishing their fundamentals.
Participation in this workshop is recommended to existing swing dancers only. Your very first dance steps are best learned HERE or HERE.
