COVID GUIDELINES

Current as of March 2023

Dancers are special people, so we need a special covid policy.

We believe that any covid policy must take care of equity, it must help people, and it must be useful. No problem. We have a covid policy that's based on science, and the best medical advice. That means it’s also likely to change with very little (or no) notice, as we respond to public health orders and government advice.
Our policy has two parts: 1. Don’t take covid dancing, and 2. Keep us connected. How does that work?

What you can do. What we do.

1. Don’t take covid dancing

At home or at work, before you go dancing, check yourself.

  • Do you have symptoms? Skip dancing.

  • Are you a close contact? Skip dancing, and test yourself.

  • Test positive, skip dancing. But contact us!

  • Use our wellness checker to be sure. If you score less than 7/7, better skip dancing this week.

2. Vaccinate

We now know that the best way to stop the spread of covid is to vaccinate. After our primary course of vaccination (2 doses), we need keep up to date with six-monthly boosters (Free! Book here!) To be properly vaccinated, your most recent booster must be no longer than 5 months ago. More info about boosters in Victoria.

If you’re dancing, get vaccinated! We may ask for proof of vaccination at some of our events.

3. Keep it Clean

It's all up to you.

  • Wash your hands like crazy.

  • Mask up: we support it! Go with a N95 or P2 respirator mask, or a well-fitting surgical mask. Cloth masks don’t cut it.

  • Don't share drinks or food.

  • Cough or sneeze into your elbow, then wash your hands again.

  • Wash or sanitise your hands after every dance partner.

4. Stay in Touch

Most important. We want to make it easy for you to keep covid off the dance floor.

  • Make sure you’ve given us a current email address

  • Email us when you can’t make it to class

  • We’ll miss you, but you won't miss out.

It’s easier to stay healthy and happy when you’re connected to other people.

We’re those people. We’re your dance partners, teachers, students, and friends.

what we're doing about covid

WHAT WE’RE DOING

We want to make it easy for you to stay home when you need to. Email by 12pm on the day of a class or party if you can’t make it because you’ve tested positive for covid.

MINIMISING CONTACT

We usually rotate partners in class, but we’ll make it easy for you to stay with just one partner for the class.

DISTANCING

We cap class sizes and use spaces that give us room to breathe.

VENTILATION

We keep doors and windows open at dances whenever possible.

VACCINATION

We ask everyone attending and working at our classes and events to be vaccinated. It’s the best way to prevent covid spreading, and to keep cases from being too severe.

THE RULES

Our Covid Guidelines are carefully designed to keep us connected. We don’t want to police rules; we want to see you dancing.
We also have an official COVID Safe Plan that was written specifically for our business, and keeps to the working practices outlined on Victoria’s DHHS website. Want to see it? Email us info@1929studios.com.

KEEPING IT KIND

We don't want to be patronising or bossy, setting rules and punishing people for making mistakes. We want to give people choices, and to provide good information to help those choices. We’ve got you, fam.

USING GOOD INFORMATION

We continually revise and tweak our covid policy, drawing on feedback from staff, students, teachers, DJs, social dancers, and the latest government regulations and recommendations and medical advice.

KEEPING IN TOUCH

We follow up on emails, notice when students miss classes, and reach out to you. This helps with contact tracing, but it’s also an important part of the support structures that keep us happy and healthy.

TRAINING OUR STAFF

We make sure all teachers and staff know what’s going on, and if they don’t have answers, they know where to find them.

GOOD ONLINE RESOURCES

We put effort into creating useful online class recaps and learning materials to help you dance at home.
-> Check out our Learning with Jazz page.

Feeling ok, but stuck in iso?
-> Try an online class.

Miss your mates?
-> Our facebook group is a good way to stay in touch, and you can join in on our instagram #hashtag activities.
